Overview

Music Chamber Blog is a personal, non-commercial blog run by Carsten Vuellings, published at soundphilosopher.github.io/music-chamber-blog. It covers music discussions, release lists, and top picks.

This blog does not actively collect, store, or process any personal data about its visitors. There is no user registration, no contact form, no comment system, and no analytics or tracking of any kind operated by this site.

The sections below explain the technical context in which third-party services may come into contact with data when you visit.

Hosting: GitHub Pages

This blog is hosted on GitHub Pages, a service operated by GitHub, Inc. (a subsidiary of Microsoft Corporation). When you visit any page on this blog, your request is handled by GitHub's servers. GitHub may log technical information such as your IP address, browser type, and referring URL as part of their standard hosting infrastructure.

This data collection is governed exclusively by GitHub's own policies:

Embedded Music Players: Bandcamp

On select pinned release-list pages, this blog embeds mini music players from Bandcamp, a service operated by Songtradr, Inc. When your browser loads a page containing a Bandcamp player, it establishes a direct connection to Bandcamp's servers to retrieve the player content. As a result, Bandcamp may:

  • receive your IP address and browser information,
  • set cookies on your device,
  • track interactions with the embedded player.

This data collection is governed entirely by Bandcamp's own policies:

Lazy loading

Bandcamp players are loaded lazily — the player only contacts Bandcamp's servers once it is scrolled into your viewport, not on initial page load.

Author Avatar

The author avatar displayed on post pages is loaded from GitHub's avatar service. This causes your browser to make a request to GitHub's servers and is subject to GitHub's General Privacy Statement.

Typography: Web Fonts

This blog uses Lora and Roboto Mono as web fonts, configured via the Material for MkDocs theme. Although these fonts originate from Google Fonts, they are self-hosted on GitHub Pages — downloaded at build time via the theme's built-in privacy plugin.

No connection to Google's font servers (fonts.googleapis.com or fonts.gstatic.com) is made when you visit this blog.

The blog's search functionality is entirely client-side. The search index is downloaded once to your browser, and all queries are processed locally — no search terms or results are transmitted to any external server.

The share search feature generates a shareable URL containing your query as a URL fragment (#). This fragment is never sent to the server as part of an HTTP request.

RSS Feed

This blog provides an RSS feed so you can follow new posts with an RSS reader. Subscribing is a purely passive action: your reader periodically fetches the feed file from GitHub Pages. No personal data is collected by this blog in that process.

Your Rights

Since this blog does not collect any personal data itself, there is nothing held about you here to access, correct, or delete.

If you are concerned about data processed by the third parties described above (GitHub / Bandcamp / Songtradr), please refer directly to their respective privacy policies linked above and exercise your rights through their official channels.

If you are located in the European Union, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national supervisory authority (data protection authority).

Changes to This Policy

This policy may be updated occasionally to reflect changes in the blog's technical setup. The Last updated date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent revision.
